The society welcomes new members, male and female of all ages. To join, a prospective member must be nominated by one existing member, and seconded by another. The prospective member is then subject to a vote by all members of the society. If the vote passes, the new member is welcomed into the society pending payment of the annual subscription.

There are different categories of membership depending on the age and circumstances of the person wishing to join. Although there are no auditions, members are expected to be able to read music and, not least, have an interest in the madrigal as a form of unaccompanied after-dinner entertainment.
